How to bid

If you found an item you would like to bid on, scroll down to the bidding section of the page. The current price, the bid increment and the minimum bid will be shown. In the text field enter your bid amount - or auto bid amount.

Auction - Bidding on an auction is done in specified bid increments by the system or you can enter any amount you wish to bid immediatelly. The user with the highest successful bid "wins" the auction and the ability to purchase the item. Auctions use Auto Bidding.

Auto Bidding - An automatic method of bidding via the auction system that automatically increases your bid to the next lowest bid amount when another user bids on the same item. Your bid is increased until your maximum bid amount that you initially entered  is reached or the auction ends. Your maximum bid is kept secret in the system.

An auto bid is another way to say maximum bid. You enter the most you are willing to pay for the item immediately (instead of waiting for bids from other bidders) and as other users bid on the item, the system will automatically bid on your behalf to the amount you entered as your final bid.

Example: You are the first bidder of the auction. If the starting bid is $20 and your bid is $30, then your $20 bid will show on the listing but not the $30 bid. The $30 bid is kept secret from other bidders. If another bidder bids $25, the system will auto bid for you to the next bid increment say $26 and this will then show.

Dutch Auction -The final item price is the lowest successful winning bid by the highest bidders.

Fixed Price Item - All Fixed Price items are Buy Now.

Classified Ad - To purchase an item listed in a classified ad you begin by contacting the Seller with your offer. There are no bidding or buy now features.

RFQ - RFQ listings are requests for quotations. RFQ's are used to get quotations for services you require. For example, you need to get maintenance done on your home. Take photos, video and measurements of what's required and list it under the appropriate category. Companies and contactors respond to your RFQ by giving a price estimate and can upload documentation in a formal quotation format.

What does reserve mean?
A seller may wish to use a reserve price. This means that the item will not sell until the offered price bid equals or goes over the reserve price amount. The status of the price ‘reserve not met’ or ‘reserve met’ will be displayed on any auction listing next to the current price. If no reserve price was set, nothing will show here and the item will be sold to the highest bidder.

Ask The Seller - At the bottom of every listing there is a "Comments" section where you can ask the Seller a question, or view previous questions from other users.

When submitting a question to a Seller, the message gets sent directly to their email address on file. The Seller can respond by following the link in the email.

To ask the Seller a question:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Go to the Item listing.
  3. Scroll down to the section marked "Comments."
  4. Click the text "Ask the seller a question." This will take you to a Contact User form.
  5. Enter your message.
  6. Click "Send" button.

Feedback

Feedback is a very important tool for you to use when buying or selling. Each user is given a feedback rating based on the number of positive and negative comments they receive from other users as they buy and sell. +1 point for a positive feedback, -1 point for a negative feedback, and 0 points for a neutral feedback. Be sure to check a user's feedback before bidding on an item to make sure they are trustworthy. Feedback is displayed in brackets next to the users name. When an item is sold an automated e-mail is send to the seller and buyer providing a feedback link in the e-mail.
